PAST EVENTS
Our next "Flipside" Sunday afternoon chill out @ award-winning* Jaipur Spice
Sunday 11th June 1PM - 7PM
Playing soulful tunes both old and new that draw on our Mod heritage:
R&B, Northern Soul, Jazz, Rare Groove, Acid Jazz, Funk, Ska, Reggae, Soul
INDIAN BUFFET ONLY £4.95 PER PERSON
Very much like The Waterfront Blues & Soul Club, it is about playing tunes without the pressure of trying to fill a dancefloor. There are so many great tunes out there, from all eras to the present day, that are far too underplayed. We endeavour to get some of these onto the turntables for your listening pleasure whilst enjoying a curry and some drinks with family and friends.
Families with children are also most welcome - it's a social event, after all, and The Soulful Word needs spreading.
All tunes will be on original vinyl.

We were supported by top local and national dj's in staging this event. They provide their services free of charge for these worthy causes. We also receive tremendous support from both charities and the venue in promoting and staging THERE WAS A TIME. We are always extremely grateful to all involved parties.
"THE WATERFRONT BLUES & SOUL CLUB"
Pitcher & Piano - York 2013 - 2014
FREE ENTRY Sunday afternoon chill-out sessions:
playing soulful tunes from 60's & 70's Northern Soul, 60's R&B and Ultra Modern Soul to Soulful Latin, Soulful Jazz and Soulful Ska.
Again we were supported by top local and national dj's in staging this event. The concept was not to fill a dance floor - there wasn't one really lol - but folk did dance. There was to be NO pressure on the deejays to make people dance. We wanted them to play tunes they would not normally play but that were still great soulful tunes. We strongly believe that there is so much great music out there that has been made and is being made but we just don't get to hear it enough or at all.
So the idea was to bring this to people who had a thirst and craving for hearing something they haven't heard for a while or at all.
The venue was The Pitcher & Piano: fashionable, modern and up-market, overlooking the river running through the city centre of York. There were drinks promotions and food was served till late. It was very much a social event for people to meet, eat, drink, talk and listen to brilliant deejays play great music whilst looking out over the River Ouse as it winds its way through the centre of York.
A wonderful way to set you up for the coming week.
